Being like a great mechanism
that captures
all the dependencies
among its components.
Constituting a machinery
that is conditioned in such a way
that after fine-tuning it
we create a complete work
– as if frozen in time,
ready not only to be repeated,
but also to be duplicated.
Thus defined
performance
deals with
the main charisma of the stage
– the passing of time.
It becomes a weapon
that frees Theater from death,
placing it
in the dimension of
now – anytime – always!
Importantly,
this stage accessory
strikes at the most perishable
and therefore unreliable
component of theater,
reducing the human element
to a minimum.
Bringing it
to the function of operating
– machinists,
or stage expression
– solely through being.
It shows the actor
stripped of acting,
individuality,
skills,
artistry,
who exists only
with their bodily shell.
This is a role
for anyone,
without competencies,
without elaboration,
without a process
of preparation,
hence it is
to be replaced
momentarily.
What a challenge!
